EtG Urine At Home Testing

Before you purchase an instant test kit, there are a few things you should know about them:

• Instant test kits are physical items, which means that they are subject to damage from water, extreme temperature, and aging. You will be given instructions on how to store the kit, and when the kit expires.
• Instant test kits do not provide you with a positive result. Results are either negative or non-negative, sometimes called a "presumptive positive." Non-negative results should be confirmed at a laboratory to ensure that the result was not because of an ingested food, over-the-counter medication, or a defective test kit.
• Instant test kits have a shelf life and should not be used after their expiration date.
• Instant test kits may test for more substances than you are interested in.
• Not every substance can be tested for with an instant test.

With instant testing, you can purchase a kit to use at home, or you have the option of having one of our certified collectors perform the test at our clinic for you. Some benefits of having your test performed at our clinic include:

• You won't need to worry about reading testing instructions or be concerned that your specimen may be collected incorrectly.
• If a kit is defective, you will not need to pay for a replacement kit, we will re-test the sample in a new kit free of charge.
• You don't need to worry about storing a kit, damaging a kit, or a kit's expiration date.
• If the test result is a non-negative, you will have the option to send your sample to a laboratory for a confirmation test.
• You will receive a printed result to take with you when the test is complete.

If you decide to purchase an instant test kit to use at home, you should know that:

• If the test result is non-negative, you should immediately proceed to a clinic for a second specimen collection to confirm the results. Unfortunately, we are not able to perform confirmation testing with a urine sample that was collected outside of the clinic.
• You will not receive a printed result when the test is complete.
• Because instant test kits have expiration dates and can be damaged by improper storage, they generally cannot be returned.

If you are going to have your test performed at our clinic by one of our certified collectors, you can skip this section since you will not need to purchase a kit.

To order instant test kits, you can stop by our office in person, or call us at 1 (636) 916-0050 if you would like to have kits shipped to you instead.

If you plan on purchasing kits in person, you may want to call our office to check if the kit you need is available. We typically keep inventory in stock, but if you are interested in purchasing more than five kits, you may want to make sure we have enough in stock first.

If you plan on purchasing more than five kits, you may need to place your order ahead of time. Depending on the size of the order, it may be shipped or picked up the same day. Generally larger orders that can't be picked up or shipped the same day will be available for pickup or will ship out within 72 hours.

You will pay for your kits when you pick them up, or you can pre-pay for them over the phone if you prefer.

If you are having kits shipped, a shipping fee will apply. Shipments are made through ground services using various shipping partners and typically arrive in one to seven business days. Overnight and express shipping is available for an additional fee. Orders are shipped in discreet, unmarked boxes with no indication of the contents.

You will need to pay for the kits and shipping fees before kits are shipped.

If you are purchasing a test kit to use at home, you can skip this section.

Appointments are only required if you wish for the collection to be observed, otherwise appointments are encouraged, but not required.

When scheduling an appointment, please make sure you have all of the necessary information ready to make the process as quick and accurate as possible.

To schedule an appointment, you will need to provide:

• Your name, or the name of the donor if you are scheduling for someone else
• Your telephone number
• If any legal order of protections or restraining orders are in place between you and any other donors, we will need to know the names of the individuals the orders pertain to so that we can attempt to accommodate appointment times
• The date and time that you prefer
• If the test is to be observed, you will need to let us know the sex of the donor

If you are scheduling an appointment for a minor, you will also need to provide:

• Name of the minor
• Age of the minor
• If a parent or guardian will not be accompanying the minor to the testing site, prior written authorization from a verified parent or guardian must be in place¹

When choosing an appointment time, please be sure that you are able to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time and allot 10 to 15 minutes for testing.

We understand that life happens, and you may not be able to arrive on time, but if you are going to be more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, we recommend that you call to reschedule. We can't guarantee your appointment if you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time.

If you are performing testing at home, you should refer to the instructions that were provided when you purchased the kit. If you have questions about the instructions, need another copy of the instructions, or you need help with using your kit, please call our office at 1 (636) 916-0050 and we would be happy to assist you.

If you are having your test performed at our clinic and you made an appointment, please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to check-in.

Testing typically takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

You will need to provide payment when you arrive for testing unless payment arrangements have been made. For your convenience, we accept bank issued Visa^® and Mastercard^® branded credit or debit cards, cash, cashier's checks, or money orders.

If you wish to perform your test anonymously, please be sure to let us know as soon as you arrive to take the test.

Please be sure to bring with you:

• A valid (not expired) government issued photo ID. Acceptable IDs include:
  • Driver's License
  • Non-Driver License (state issued ID)
  • Passport
  • Military ID
• A list of all individuals you wish for us to release results to as well as their associated addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses

If a minor will be testing, you will also need to provide:

• At least one form of ID for the minor. Acceptable IDs include:
  • Driver's License or Permit
  • Non-Driver License (state issued ID)
  • Passport
  • School ID
  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
• If you are a social worker for the state and you will be authorizing testing for the minor, you will need to bring proof of guardianship or the court order for testing that specifically lists you as having the authority to authorize testing for the minor
• Proof of guardianship if any of the following are true:
  • Your name does not appear on the minor's birth certificate
  • Your last name differs from the minor's last name and no birth certificate showing your name is presented
  • You are a relative of the minor
  • You are a family friend of the minor
• A certified copy of your emancipation order if you are an emancipated minor

You will be provided with a secret pin number when you have completed your test. This number is used to identify the person providing it as authorized to discuss your test result or request copies of your result. Anyone with your name and that pin number can access your test result or request copies of the result. You should keep this number in a secure location or destroy it if you do not wish to use it.

The amount of time needed for an instant test to complete varies, but most kits can be read in two to five minutes. You should refer to the instructions provided with the kit for the exact amount of time necessary.

There is no record of the test result made if the test is taken at home. The kit itself is the result. If you need to keep a record of the result, you may consider taking a photo of the kit showing the result. Keeping the kit as a record of the result is not recommended, as the result should not be read after a certain amount of time. You should refer to the instructions provided for the maximum amount of time the kit can reliably be read.

If you took the test at our clinic, you will receive your results before you leave. Results will be mailed, faxed, or emailed to any individuals the donor or guardian, if the donor was a minor, authorized to receive them prior to testing. Mailed results typically arrive seven business days after the testing is complete. Faxed and emailed results are typically transmitted to recipients within two hours of the test's conclusion.

If you have any questions about your results or you would like extra copies of your result, you can ask the collector that conducted your test for answers to those questions and for additional copies of the result before you leave the testing facility. However, if, after leaving, you have questions or need additional copies of your result, you can call us at 1 (636) 916-0050 or visit us in person to discuss those questions and request additional copies of your result.

If requesting additional copies of your result in person, you will need a valid government issued photo ID. If you are unable to request additional copies in person, you will need your unique pin number that was provided to you during testing. If you have lost your pin number, you may still be able to request additional copies of your results by providing additional identification over the phone.

If you performed your testing anonymously, you will not be able to request additional copies of your result after leaving the testing facility.

Please note that results over one year old will require a small record retrieval fee for each result requested. This fee must be paid prior to results being retrieved and is not refundable. Results over ten years old may no longer be available.

Instant urine alcohol testing is a popular choice for concerned parents and those looking for a discreet and budget friendly alternative to laboratory testing. Laboratory based alcohol testing can be embarrassing for the donor and can be inconvenient. Instant alcohol testing can help alleviate some of these problems by allowing the donor to perform the test in the privacy of their own home or at our clinic. Just because you purchase a test to take at home, doesn't mean we aren't available to help. Sometimes kits are damaged or defective, instructions get lost, or you may have difficulty reading what the result is.
